"CAL"

Every year, Luther has a huge Christmas extravaganza entitled "Christmas at Luther." About six hundred choir and orchestra members take part in this special event, including the freshman girl's choir that I'm in, Aurora. This year it is being nationally televised on PBS. (I'll let you know when the dates have been officially decided!)

We've been preparing our individual pieces for months. The last couple weekends we had mass rehearsals for the choirs to practice the five songs that we all sing together. And then last Sunday it fell into full swing...

We had to be back to campus by three for a six hour rehearsal that included a walk through of the concert and our first practice with the orchestra. Then on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we had three hours rehearsals each day, the last being a dress rehearsal to see if the whole show would run smoothly.

Thursday was the first performance, followed by two Friday, one Saturday, and one today. After hours of hard work, we're finally done!

I'm so glad to have been apart of "CAL" this year! Despite the huge time commitment (notice: I have nothing else to write about this week because all I've done is choir stuff), I had a great time! Not only was I apart of a very special Luther tradition that turned out spectacular every performance, but I also became really good friends with some girls that formally I hadn't really known. Plus, my family was able to come for the concert (what's new right?) which was really special for me, knowing that I was performing for them!

What's left may you ask after this exhausting week? It's one word: Sleep! And here I come!!!

Seniors, good luck as you begin to study for finals this week!

~Anna

"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."
-Romans 5: 3-5
